ABOUT CHOLESTEROL

Cholesterol is a type of fat that the body produces in the liver and ingests from food. It is a natural component of blood, but only within certain, physiologically given limits. An increased amount of this substance in the blood is dangerous to health and is one of the risk factors for heart and blood vessel diseases, heart attack and stroke.

About glucomannan

What is red glucomannan?

Glucomannan is a highly purified natural dietary fiber, with high binding capacity for fluids, fats and cholesterol. It is a concentrated source of dietary fiber.

The mechanism of action of glucomannan is based on the fact that it swells in the presence of water, forming a gel-like structure.

In this way, LuraLean reduces intestinal resorption of cholesterol and stimulates its transformation into bile acids, which are further excreted from the body.

What is monacolin K from red rice extract?

Monacolin K is a natural inhibitor of hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase, an enzyme that controls the synthesis of cholesterol in the liver. It belongs to a group of compounds called monacolini. Of the 15 or so types of monacolin, red rice is dominated by monacolin K, also known as mevinolin or lovastatin. This substance is key to the action of red rice in terms of reducing total cholesterol, "bad" LDL cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood.
